Details are still a bit sketchy but NCLTC has been asked to set up a layout at LEGOPalooza. LEGOPalooza is an annual (this will be the 3rd) event run by NCLUG and hosted by Moorehead Planetarium in Chapel Hill. This year LEGOPalooza expands from 1 day to 2 day (Feb. 3-4). More details to come soon.
While I haven’t seen it myself, I understand the SHM Holiday Commercial is running regularly between midnight and 1 AM on WRAL-TV and the NCLTC layout is featured prominently. Time to break out the TiVo!
The commercial taping which was to take past this past Wednesday was postponed due to the weather. Apparently the camera man didn’t want to bring his equipment out into the torrential rain we had! 
The commercial should be filmed either this coming Tuesday or Wednesday and is still expected to start airing on December 2nd.
NCLTC’s Holiday Layout display at South Hills Mall is now open for public viewing. South Hills Mall is open from 10 AM – 6 PM Monday through Saturday and the layout is visible during normal mall operating hours. The layout features 4 train loops on two levels. Stop by and check it out!
On Wednesday South Hills Mall in conjunction with WRAL-TV 5 is going to film a commercial for South Hills Mall’s Christmas Display. Prominently featured in the 30 second advertisement will be our LEGO Train Layout. The commercial will air 35 times between December 2nd and 25th. This is nice exposure for us but it means we need the layout to be complete by Tuesday evening.
If anyone wants to go up to SHM tonight (Friday), the folks from Tom’s Train
Station will be working on their layout from 6PM-9PM. If you decide to go
up there, the mall closes around 6PM so you may need to bang on the door
near Tom’s Train Station to gain access to the mall.
I may try to get up there tonight because we have about a million things
going on tomorrow.
We are ready for set up at South Hills Mall! The tables are up, the track is roughly in place, so we are good to go. I plan to drop off my first load sometime later this week. You can set up during the hours Tom’s Train Station is open (10-6 daily except Sunday). When you go into set up, you need to stop by Tom’s and check in with eith Rick or John – they will unlock the space and let you in. Please keep me apprised of your set up plans.
NCLTC has a small Christmas layout on display at Tom’s Train Station at South Hills Mall in Cary. The small layout is on display in the window of the store across from Tom’s Train Station where they have expanded into during this holiday season. The layout will be on display through the end of the year.
This weekend the North Carolina LEGO Train Club (NCLTC) displayed our layout at the Southern Jumction Model Train Show at Dorton Arena. We were a little short handed but all worked out well in the end – our layout was a hit with the crowd, which was unfortunately a bit sparse. It turns out that the local newspaper ran the advertisements for the show on the wrong weekend and didn’t include the location. Ooops!
